Running Mandrake 8.0. Just patched my poor, poor home network back together after the enemy that is technology scatered it into the winds. All my computers can surf, but can't access samba shares.
I blame the firewall. Bastille-firewall has a configuration script (bastille-firewall.cfg) that is supposed to allow you to set an ethernet card as "trusted" so that it won't block whatever goes through it. So in that script, I found the trusted entry and placed "eth1" in it (eth1 connects to my local network, eth0 to the world outside).
Then I stopped and restarted it.
But it STILL won't let me ping that box, dammit. and while the samba shares show up in my network neighborhood, I can't get to them.
*sigh*
any suggestions?
