Warning: Timesink within
OK, so [link|/forums/render/content/show?contentid=69799|Ben's post] got me thinking about a link I saw yesterday to the [link|http://blue.census.gov/genealogy/www/namesearch.html|Most Popular Names from the 1990 US Census]. Vitale comes in at #3552; 0.003% of the population; 59.107% cumulative frequency. Anyone else care to check theirs? ;-) OK, since we're playing the first-name game, too.. They are lying weasels!
My surname comes up not found and I know filled out those 1990 census forms. They must have a cutoff with some minimum number of repeats.

Thirteen out of ten thousand Americans share my last name:
NAME (last) %FREQ CUMM FREQ RANK CONRAD 0.013 42.475 927 About as I expected.
As a given name, it's about twice as frequent... And my given name, three times that: NAME (male) %FREQ CUMM FREQ RANK CHRISTIAN 0.065 75.233 236 CONRAD 0.022 83.595 456
And here's a relief: NAME (female) %FREQ CUMM FREQ RANK CONRAD not found :-)

Name Not Found
I entered my Dad's/Grandfather's last name.
There's an uncle, and 3-4 cousins with that name that I know of and 4-5 distant relations in the US that I know of also have that name.
Result: Name not found.
I guess they all changed their names too.
I am out of the country for the duration of the Bush administration. Please leave a message and I'll get back to you when democracy returns.
