Welcome to IWETHEY!

New It's about having the tool availible.
If you make something availible, at some point, you will use it. Believe me, there are a few people here I would have twitted at one point or another if I'd really been in the mood to do so - and with my memory, I would have forgotten within about 15 minutes that I'd done so.

And I would have missed some very interesting conversations if I had done so.

Now, if you guys REALLY want a twit filter, I'm not going to get in the way - I'm just pointing out the downsides of it.
"...the middle of fighting a war against religious extremism is not the time to do something offensive to God." - Some idiot.
New What if there were several options
One of which was only locking the twitted parties, instead of not showing them?
Regards,

-scott anderson

"Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson..."
New Then - - -
IF that LOCKED ONLY appears to the er "sanitized, homogenized, detected and inspected" VIEW of: each intentional self-censorer?

I can live with that, despite my opinion of that. The flow shall obv be altered -- and the inane as well as occasionally brilliant exchanges.. shall diminish. Maybe the ontological Proofs of obscure dbase locking algoriths Are.. the primary motivation for a critical mass of members (?)

IF OTOH: the LOCKED appears to ALL; the A for Adult- erer/ess is rubbed in the face of every reader - permanantly emblazoned on the escutcheon of the {ugh} OFFENDER == For All Digital Time\ufffd(-stamp) ???

THEN I demur. In fact, if it comes to this, my personal view (the only view I am entitled to) will be that - zIWE has Failed. Never mind the dissection of fail and its ooodles of nuance. I would then be sorely likely to leave. With regret - there are so Many failures of civilization nowadays; what's One More? Still - regret is the word.

Ashton

Oh yes, did I mention? - Regret and *Anger!* at how peremptorially we so often knife the fragile baby, for our comfort and convenience. Want Service Pack 3 for your OS-POS? - Just sign the EULA which makes Your Stuff Our Stuff\ufffd And smarl.. if you cannot snile.

{FUCKING Sheesh}
New Only for the person doing the filtering
I'm not a fan of community-based controls. Let each user modify/customize/sanitize their own display to their own content, so long as it doesn't affect the other users.
Regards,

-scott anderson

"Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson..."
New Awomen to that.
New Yes, I want it available.
*You* don't have to use it, but I'd like the option. That's all I'm saying.
New ObAOLMeToo
What he said.

         Purgatory? - (Another Scott) - (1)
             Re: Purgatory? - (Yendor)

You're typing on a device that stores trillions of pieces of data and makes billions of computations per second with the ability to grab data on almost anything from around the world in milliseconds, using electricity transmitted from hundreds of kilometers through wires on towers dozens of meters tall connected to megastructures that do things like burn coal as fast as entire trains can pull into the yard, or spin in the wind with blades the size of jumbo jets, or the like, which were delivered to their location by vehicles with computer-timed engines burning a fuel that was pumped up halfway around the world from up to half a dozen kilometers underground and locked into complex strata (through wells drilled by diamond-lined bores that can be remote-control steered as they go), shipped around the world in tankers with volumes the size of large city blocks and the height of apartment complexes, run through complex chemical processes in unimaginable quantities, distributed nationwide and sold to you at a corner store for $1.80 a gallon, which you then pay for with a little piece of microchipped plastic, if not a smartphone, which does all of the aforementioned computer stuff but in a box the size of your hand that tolerates getting beaten up in your pocket all day.

But technology never seems to advance...
