Agreed
I'm going to partake of the "ignore" status myself -- but I'd also like to see some sort of built-in ignore feature to remove any impetus for me to read any twit's posts.

Same principle as a twit filter.
I don't know what n3jja's talking about forum filters, but I want my twit filter!
I want the option of permanently removing certain forums from my sight. Politics, War on Terrorism, and all of the programming forums are tops on my list. There are others, but I think you get the idea.

So do it yourself.
http://z.iwethey.org/forums/actions/forum/markForumRead?forumid=<forumID>&markstamp=9999-12-31+23:59:59.99
Replace <forumID> with the number of the forum. You can glean this number either by hovering your mouse over the "Mark Read" link on the front page, or by its use when you click on the Forum, as in http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/forum/show?forumid=1.
Only issue I've found with this is that you can't use the "Mark All Forums Read" link after you mark some forums read like that, but by that point, the only thing left should be fora that you're interested in reading. And I've filed a bug/enhancement request against that so that the MAFR link checks each forum's Mark Read Date to check if it's after today, then not to update the timestamp for that forum.
[Edit: backslashed the URLs per [link|/forums/render/user?username=ben_tilly|Ben's] suggestion.]

No need to add a space
Use a backslash.
For instance to get http://z.iwethey.org/ you just have to type in http:\\//z.iwethey.org/. (This is part of the "Process HTML" bit.)

Workaround for the "Mark All Forums Read" problem:
Save your time-adjusted URLs for fora you don't want to see as bookmarks in your browser (or links on your homepage, or in a local HTML file (that you can bookmark) or something).
Oh, and Ben: At least I thought Mike's explanation of the problem was "good enough" for the purpose.

As SilverDon said, I have a User Page?!?
The good thing about putting 'em up on a publically-accessible Web page: Now, as long as I'm logged in to zIWT, *I* can use those links -- in effect, all I need to do is bookmark your User Page as "The Forum-Marking Page". Cool!
The bad thing about those User Pages: You(*) put my *e-mail* up on the Web, for every goddamn spam-robot in the world to collect and abuse?!? What the FUCK were you *thinking*???
It's not like you clearly warned us of that on the sign-up page, either, AFAICR. :-(
(*): Not YendorMike, but you brain-dead loony Wikistrators.

Nope...
...anyone can *see* his (or yours, or my) user page. But only he can edit it. And he has the editing capability to remove his e-mail address from sight so not every search engine and spammer can see, catalog, and use it.

Because the only place my email address is listed (besides in my sig) that I know of is in the preferences page.

Yeah, I' edited it out, NOW - but it sure would have been...
...nice to know that that bloody page existed in the first place -- then I'd have edited it out *immediately*.

As long as you don't click "mark all read"...
You already can.
Right-click on the "mark read" link. Paste that into a text editor. Edit the timestamp to be any convenient date (like a century from now), and then visit that URL.
It is now pre-emptively read for the next century. :-)
Cheers, Ben

Hrm. I made it more explicit about why it would break.
About the feature - I consider the current behaviour correct if not always convenient.

About the feature - I consider the current behaviour correct if not always convenient. Agreed completely. So I guess it's more of a feature enhancement request. But I still hold hope that it'll get fixed. :)
