New Re: Supa Shit! KNOPPIX on my corporate DELL notebook 5mins -

Took extra few mins to locate Konqueror proxy settings to ge thru our firewall.

Also just to really push it I plugged in a Sony Memory stick in a PCMCIA adapter & f*** me dead but KNOPPIX had that file system there on the desk top.

The only failure & no big deal, is I plugged in a USB diskdrive (2.5 in 30GB disk) & that seemed to lock the system up. But I will look a little closer later.

This ROCKS !!!

Cheers

Doug
(Now to find out how to do my own custom build & burn)
New Re: When does it end - am now listening to mp3 off memstick
While taking a peek at my Memstick under knoppix, saw I had Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush mp3 file - Don't Give Up.

Clicked it & before I could plug my earphones in it was up & playing

- This product must surely have the potential to start a grassfire - a killer APP

Hmmmmm - this needs publicising & distributing evrywhere & anywhere.

This type of software can and does generate genuine excitement.

Cheers

Doug Marker

#2 - Now watching a sound video clip !!!
#3 - 3 mins later now reading a WORD-OFFICE2000 Document - just clicked it !!!
#4 - Was able to open an OFFICE 2000 Spreadsheet but when I opened a PowerPoint file the images didn't appear - also with WORD 20000 docs, they need to be simple. But - for a LInux CD based OS, this is just amazing.
#5 - Reads PDF docs ok - in the CD demos folder is a nice tune to listen to while playing with KNOPPIX - is called 'Penguin Planet' - is electronic but has a racy beat.

New I make about 20 CDs
of the current 3.1 beta every week. I use cheap media at 8x and an auto-changer (my daughter, I pay her $5 per sit). $3 for 200 CD-Rs from a source (about 4 bad out of 200) that gets bad batches from Imation.

I nearly always could have made more. It is amazing how many people are amazed at how easy it is.

PPPoE works nearly instantly too. I know, I have had to use it from time to time for that. Once to verify the machine itself was good. To prove to ISP thier software was Toast as they delivered it.

What an amazing world we have before us.
