That's one of my standing gripes -- I'm thinking of pitching for a removeable disk caddy as a workaround, because getting data on (or off) old disks is a fairly common task. That and VMWare buys me a virtual PC for the purposes of file transfer. \r\n\r\n Though, if I'm lucky, there's a carcass being rebuilt for some purpose (the beauty of `apt-get dist-upgrade` not having been learnt here) lying around which I can drop a drive into temporarially.
