Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Just a thought...
...but you might try just opening [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/images/iwethey-lrpd-small.jpg|one of the images].
New Re: Just a thought...
Well, assuming that the link in question expanded out is:\r\n\r\nz.iwethey.org/rg/forums/images/iwethey-lrpd-small.jpg\r\n\r\nit's not working... just hanging.\r\n\r\nIs it being proxied out or something...? That is, does it originate on the machine with the name z.iwethey.org or is it stored elsewhere and forwarded via that machine?

New Never mind... I can get the image
Here... it's the actual pages that aren't working.\r\n\r\nIn short, http://z.iwethey.org/forums/images/iwethey-lrpd-small.jpg works fine, while http://z.iwethey.org/forums hangs forever.

New Perhaps it's the dtd?
Can you see - http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd

Don't recall that the file is strictly necessary but it is referenced in the DocType:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
New W3.org is one of the offending sites... permanent hang.
To be honest, I don't think that's it, though... doesn't feel right. Also, it breaks in all browsers... IE on Windows, Moz on Windows, Moz and Communicator on OS/2...\r\n\r\nThis is beginning to really piss me off. I wonder if it's possible that Bell (the provider) is doing something that might be breaking things...

New It appears that the answer is....
squid. My guess is that Bell (the ISP in question) is messing with the packets in some way to prevent what we're doing here. I think I'm going to recommend that these guys consider switching providers in the medium term... my provider doesn't play games like this... and the ToS at Bell explicitly permit them to play games like this.

New echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/TCP_ECN
Or something close to that... I currently STILL have my ipchains from RH7.0 as my Firewall.. ;)

but on 2.4 ECN is on by default and SOME ISPs see that BIT being set as Spoofing... either way... (too or from)

Also Make sure you have Squid 2.4Stable6 or later (I believe it's the latest), as it fixes something like that to.

I currently do not have a 2.4 Box to play with RIGHT this second, as I am doing some other work needed for money to come in... ON WINDOWS!!! AHHHH!!!!!

Tis a mailing system manager called MailManager... I am doing an extremely large setup right now on 2 machines... I'd like to run it on Linux but the Program BARFS on Wine...

Currently going through 16 - 8GB files and validating everything then sorting them all in one big batch... ewe... Windows is cranking through though... for how long I dunno...

edit: Added Squid comment

New Re: echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/TCP_ECN
I'll try that out... but this is a 2.2 kernel, not a 2.4. Still and all, it's worth a look and a switch to see if it improves things. Thanks for the heads up. BTW- what exactly does that one do?
