Dependable, very good gas mileage (30+ city).

Things to look out for - intake valve leaks on high-mileage cars (increases oil consumption), plastic bits that break (interior door handles, mounts for windshield washer fluid tank, etc.).

My wife's been very happy with her 1993 - 140,000 miles and still on the original brakes. She got 120,000 miles out of the original clutch. Other than the clutch, it's needed a battery, an alternator, and the hydraulic cluch master and slave cylinders replaced under warranty (when the dealer put the wrong fluid in it...) and a couple of interior door handles since she bought it new.
