Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Reading MS Project files...
...is apparently a requirement for what we need. For which I'm strongly suspicious that MS Project is a requirement. That said, what sorts of files (reports? project files?) does MS Project generate?

New The in and out of it......
Project can read in:

Project files
Project templates
Project workspaces
MPX files
Access databases
Excel Workbooks
Text files
CSV files

Project can write:

Project files
Project templates
Web pages
Project '98 files
Access databases
Excel Worksheet
Excel Pivot Table
Text files
CSV files

It is still a POS IMO....why won't a spreadsheet template approach work?
New Documentation?
I have an interest, though it's definitely on the backburner, of writing files that can be read by MSProject. Is there a definitive resource for learning how-to-do such things?
New not difficult...
There is some info over at the msdn site (bleck!)

It's not difficult though....if you create a spreadsheet
you certainly can open/use/save it in Project. What exactly
are you trying to do?
New Trying to...
...do some team coordination software. Not so much project based as it is goal oriented. It's my moonlight job - which is why it's on the backburner. Eventually, though, I'll need to feed stuff to & from Project, as I don't really want the software to get into the intricacies of project management software.
New Looks like it's just a frontend
Which would be smart, actually. As people keep bringing up, you can simulate most of what Project does with spreadsheets and email. It makes sense that they would create a file format that is essentially a config file for how to import data from various Office apps, and then how to use other Office components to display it.

New Thank you for explaining...
