An alternative to the repodems!
[link|http://www.drudgereport.com/urgentm.htm|it might work] I dont know how this would effect the campaign finance laws but the exposure would give an alternative to the blessed 2 that will be anointed by washington. However, the electoral colleges wouldnt step outside their parties, would they? If this candidate got 45% and thr repocrats split the balance on the popular vote it could get real ugly. thanx, bill

I love it
Anything that gets people on TV talking about issues for longer than a sound bite, or that gets people to care about an election, is fine by me.

I'm not a fan of Rupert Murdoch...
but there are elements I like about this notion.
I would imagine that the political parties (both of them) would hate this system though.
Ah, but to dream.

WTF for?
No really, what's their complaint? I'd be willing to bet it boils down to, "Oh it's so lowbrow. That's like letting Jerry Springer pick a candidate." Well you know what? More poeple watched Jerry Springer at his show's height than voted in the last election. And they watched for a half-hour every day. How much total time was spent by the electorate paying attention to the presidential compaign.
I swear the more I hear who's bashing the idea the more I like it.

proof we should do it
when those inbred backcrossing double stabbers dont like the idea it shows the has merit. Most washington insiders feel they should be running the government because we plebians havnt got a clue. News for them we could replace civilian in govt including the CIC with people out of the bars, jails and welfare rolls and probably be better off than we are. thanx, bill

If Murdoch really follows through
I'll forgive him Fox and all the tabloid shit from year One. It seems inevitable that some non-US Corporate thing, motivated as ever by profit, somehow break the stranglehold of enforced mediocrity: not for any Goodness' sake of course! but - because it will make $$. The rest is up to whether or not we run with it.
Heh.. the irony of bein saved from selves by YAN Corporate robber baron, especially if the Fox Candidate starts proposing new laws for reigning in Corp hegemony..

Well.. OK, ___if I can be Secretary of Status
(And I can insist upon hiring the staff at The Southern Poverty Law Center as core employees of the DOJ.)
Now as to what the plan for dismantling the SS Home Security Czar's apparatchiks might be.. it would surely involve some testosterone-level tests, also vetoes on their requisitions for

A Mercedes? For the Vice of President? Buy American! I'll take a Harley. Black, with lightning bolts. Your Vice President is a fiscal conservative. He conserves fuel! He drives a Harley! He buys American! Vote for Brandioch (and what's-her/his-name) in 2004!
