In this case, though, Hamas has made the Russians look like humanitarians. In this case I say - "Israel, go get um". Unfortunately there will be extensive collateral damage - many (mostly) innocent people will die. That is a shame, but that's the way things work when religions and nationalisms are involved.

They were not overly religious and we went to 3 of their 4 son's bar mitzvahs and 3 of their sons weddings. Unfortunately, the guy got depressed and committed suicide 10 years ago. A shitload of land mines but at this point the strip is not wide enough. So they have to get rid of it. I agree that the Israeli treatment of the Palestinian refugees sucks. What would you have them do? 50 years ago they said kill the all the Jews and the Jews responded. No. They went from 80,000 people to two and a 1/2 million people in a six mile wide by 125 mile high strip. There is absolutely nothing to do with these people, either then shut them out (which means death and starvation) or bomb the f*** out of them. Let Iran take them as refugees. Sadat attacked to get Israel's attention; a few years later there was a peace treaty. It's a sad and infuriating quality of the world that far too many innocents die to get governments' (and the world's) attention. :-( Reuters.com: Oct 9 (Reuters) - A senior Hamas official said the group is open to discussions over a possible truce with Israel, having "achieved its targets." Moussa Abu Marzouk told Al Jazeera in a phone interview that Hamas was open to "something of that sort" and "all political dialogues" when asked whether the Islamist group is willing to discuss a possible ceasefire.
