Pretty sure Apple TV is a device, not an app

Apple TV+ is an app.
It runs on Apple devices including the Apple TV device which can also run other apps. I have one and run Sling on it as well as other apps.
Apple TV+ provides streaming services that a free for a while if you buy an Apple device. While I was offered a free year of it, I have not signed up for it.

But is it available as an application on an Android device?
My wife has an Apple phone. Is it available as an application on her phone?
I just want to watch it on my TV. I want to give them money to give me their streaming service. What problem is this?

I went to that link and it told me my device was not compatible
Android Google Pixel 3a. Does not get more standard than this in the Android universe. So do I need an Apple device?
And yes I have T-Mobile. I still need to install the app to get access.

No idea
Although that's the Google Play Store, so I doubt you'd need an Apple device to install it.
I don't have a convenient Android device on hand to check, unfortunately.

I got "This app is not available for any of your devices"
A work Samsung phone, my own OnePlus 6, and the Android TV "set-top box". Felt somewhat weird; surely it oughta work for something.

Looks like it's only for Android-based smart TVs

That makes sense.
Apple are a hardware company; making an app for someone else's hardware where they already compete doesn't quite make sense. But I bet they didn't like having to learn Android to put it on smart TVs... :-)

If that makes sense, then why not the Android set-top box?
It's just like an Android TV with the OS in the display, only here the chip(s) that run it is (are) in a separate box. In effect, it pretty much is "the TV".

They do support some Android set-top boxes.
I'm guessing that is a grey area as they sell a physical Apple TV box.
Or, knowing Apple, they have a philosophical objection to supporting Android smartphones but Android in other things they will consider. I dunno. I don't work there. And I don't partake in that part of their ecosystem.

Might want to try via web browser.
Works on Firefox on Windows, don't currently have an Android device, otherwise I'd check it out.
