Post #439,786 by crazy 9/5/21 12:59:42 PM 9/5/21 12:59:42 PM Reply	I got a huge dog No huge yet. But at 8 weeks I can barely lift him. I've given him 2 bathes so far We call him Snugly. He's been crying since 6:00 a.m. because he misses his brothers and sisters. It's a kangal. It's going to be bigger than me. I got it from a chicken farmer. They train them to guard their chickens and I have no chickens. But he can guard my house. I had to convince her that I was worthy to take this dog. I'm not sure I am but I got away with it. I was worried about my neighbors being annoyed from him screaming but they have three huge dogs as well. One is a dean of the college and the other is a semi retired professor. I love my neighborhood.

It was a stray that someone abandoned that I adopted, who they hell abandons the Russian blue? It took a year or so before I could actually pet her. Now she's my lap buddy and follows me everywhere. Except I've been stressing her. I've moved way too many times in the last couple of years. That means she goes in a bag next to me and we got hotel rooms and other places. It takes her two or three days before she comes out of hiding at each place. We have hit what I hope/hope is not a strategy but I'm working on it, permanence. We got the house. We got the crap furniture that the guy left behind and it's really comfy crap. I don't give a s*** if she sharpens her claws on it. This is her furniture. But we also got the dog. And she is not happy about that. How dare I go cuddle the dog. My hands smell like dog when I pet her. She knows she's going to have to start sharing affection and she's pissed. So what does she do? She pisses on my wife's clothes. Not mine, she loves me, but she's very happy to piss on my wife's clothes. And the puppy hears me dictating. That means the puppy cries. We are upstairs in the puppy's downstairs in the area I don't mind it destroys while we are house / toilet training it. But it is screaming this heartfelt cry. It wants me or M. Do I give in and cuddle every time or do I let it cry out occasionally? I'm going to go cuddle now.

Probably the main thing is to not reward the behavior you don't like. E.g. we knew a woman with a little dog that she would pick up anytime it started barking or acting stressed. Reinforced the behavior. :-( Our first dog would whine pitifully when we first got her and tried to keep her in a crate. She wanted to be with us. She won, but that was fine. Your pooch probably wants to be with you. And that's good! If you let her in with you, maybe don't get excited about it - don't reward her with lots of pets and play and treats, but let her stay if she's good and quiet and calm. It may take a couple of years though - puppies are demanding! Something like that. Good luck! Cheers, Scott.

Except I am too nice and want to cuddle the dog all the time. So of course the dog follows me and is my shadow. It's just like the cat. The cat loves me. My wife is now annoyed. We'll figure it out. You travel. You have a motor home right? We got a hookup. Feel free to come along.

I would like unrestrained feeding until he pukes and realizes it's unnecessary but I understand also that he will associate the food with the person gives it to him. So she feeds him and she walks him. He will be hers.
