New > 3 parallel port network print server?
We've got a 3 parallel port HP print server hooking up 3 dot matrix label printers on our network. We need to add more printers, but only have the one network line where it'll be set up. We can't use a hub as it'll interfer with our IP phones. We can run another line from the switch, but I recalled seeing a 10 parallel port version at one time. However, I'm not having any luck in my search for one.

Anybody seen one? Possibly I misremembered something that was 10 instead of 10/100 on the network speed.

New why should a hub mess up ip phones?
All the ones I was tech support for didnt have any problems. We didnt even have them on the same lan segments. The only thing they couldnt do was proxy and that was per the RFC, no standard on how.
thanx,
bill

New Not sure
That's what we were told when everything was put in the new facility. Our network guy found a better job and then the downturn came last year so the position was left empty. The rest of us know how to keep things running, but don't have the network knowledge to back up or cancel the "no hubs" policy. Business is picking up again so I suspect the position will be filled in a few months.

New Not seen such a beast (lots of serial ports)
If you use a small switch, which regens the signal, that should eliminate any problem a hub might produce. The 3Com "splitter" device ($149 list) is a wire speed switch and expands one cable to 4 ports (and handles a phone line too).

New That might work
don't normally think of switches with so few ports. However, now that I think about it, my Linksys cable modem router has a built in 4 port switch.

Thanx!
