On my new machine the builder sent a Agere modem, one of the Win-modem variety of crap. At the moment eComStation (nor Warp4) has a driver that makes this modem work. Does anyone know of a *real* modem that works with eCS?
on Ebay, you could be buying junk, or an external modem without a power pack, etc.
But yes most brand name external modems will work, just work out the Init string to use with OS/2, usually the same one used with Windows, DOS, Procomm, BBSes, etc.
USR/3COM are the best for external modems. Sportster is the cheapie USR brand, Courier is the more expensive one.
THanks to all. I e-mailed PrismDataWorks who recommended the Actiontec modem. Looking at the Actiontec website I noticed that particular model is the only one that says it will work with OS/2. Apparently all the others are the cheapie Win-modem nonsense. So, I ordered one, and am anxiously waiting its arrival.
