This was a youngster.
It was having trouble moving the (quite fat) squirrel around. It took a few hours.
A baby would have been a feast for a few weeks. ;-) Cheers, Scott. |

First year...
for most Eagle is a Do or Die kind of thing. They learn purty dern quick to eat quickly.
A young one being under a year old does take a few months of hunting and eating on their own to get up to speed and what objects to avoid. Case in point 2 Decorah, Iowa fledges died from touching electrical wires on telephone poles. The one that was "tagged" with a radio beacon was getting to be a pro at eating. A few days before its death, they filmed it eating a full grown rabbit in about 15 minutes. --

:-( That's a neat site.
J was addicted to it for a while this year. She's going to be upset to find out that one died so young.
http://www.farmyou.c...n_cams/index.html They had a map showing one of the D eagles going up into central Canada, but I can't find it at the moment. D1 moves around quite a bit. Amazing stuff. Cheers, Scott. |
