1 in 4 Americans have appeared on TV
Maybe when they film a crowd in a Sports game, boxing match, etc?
The WWF RAW and Smackdown show the whole crowd in a short amount of time. I went to a match about a year and a half ago, with a sign that had my wife's name on it and a hello. I had to put the tape on slow motion to find myself, but there I was holding the sign up in the nosebleed seats. They scan the whole crowd.
I am free now, to choose my own destiny.

Wondering about that myself
I think they mean somewhat more directly.
Like being in a highschool choir which is shown on a TV - ie you are part of the show, not the audience.
In which case I have been on TV.

I know I've been filmed.
I was at an in-store band showing, and I saw a TV crew pointing the camera at me whilst I was singing along at one point. No idea if I was broadcast or not; the show was for a cable channel and I don't have cable.

Maybe Karsten is thinking of a state building in Carson.
Merriam-Webster: capitol
1 a: a building in which a state legislative body meets 1 b: a group of buildings in which the functions of state government are carried out 2 capitalized: the building in which the U.S. Congress meets at Washington

Uh... Yes, exactly. That was my point.
Which is it that is named 'Carson'[*][**] -- the capitAl of Nevada, or the capitOl in the capitAl of Nevada?
I know the capitAl is; as for the capitOl, I didn't even know they *had* names, besides "The Capitol"... do they, really?
[*]: Which I personally didn't think sounds all that much like 'Karsten'. Am I (mentally) pronouncing your name "wrong", K... Or are *you*? ;^)
[**]: Named after Kit C, IIRC.

Am part of the 25%
Waaaaaaaaay back in the day....(OK, about 10 or 12 years ago) I was on the (new) Mickey Mouse Club show. In HS, band trip went to Disney World. (I play the saxophone, for those who care.) I was in the audience....But then they did a clip with audience participation. I was selected, and even had a (gasp!) speaking part!
I learned that an "interabang" is the technical term for "?!" (without the quotes).
Memories....

Thanks.
