New Totally useless trivia
Well, at least [link|http://dogman0.tripod.com/useless.html|some of these items] are.

And does anyone actually follow #80?
Famous last RPG quotes: "I'll just shoot this fireball down the dungeon passageway..."
New Haven't they ever heard of bogs with lids to close???
Nice one to tell women, with their stupid "leave the seat *down*, but the LID UP AT ALL TIMES!" fetish, though.

Of course, who am I to point fingers? I'm in the "Information Technology" business, prima facia evidence that there's bats in the bell tower.

New I'm feeling old and crotchety today, so...

88 and 131 show there should be another fact: Most 'useless trivia' lists contain duplicates.

152) Historical significance, you ignorant slut.

Can't half tell I'm having a slow work day, hey...
On and on and on and on,

New "Temporarily Unavailable"
Got this:
The Tripod site you are trying to reach has been temporarily suspended due to excessive bandwidth consumption.

The site will be available again in approximately 1 hour!
Our fault?

Anyway, Meerkat crotchets:
88 and 131 show there should be another fact: Most 'useless trivia' lists contain duplicates.
Also, IIRC, 35 and 113 -- on 'orange', 'purple', 'silver' and (in the latter) 'month' being the only words "in the dictionary" (which one, "the"???) / in the English language for which there are no rhymes.

And the one on brand names that become "regular" words -- 'ditto'?!? Surely that was a loan word -- a "regular" word -- from Italian, long before it became a brand name (that I've never heard of)?

New When I don't crotchet, I quaver :)
On and on and on and on,
and on and on and on goes John.
New My orange syringe, pilfered silver and purple burble -
mark the month of dumbth.

Now what's, the sixth sick Sheik's sixth sick sheep's sick, in Finnish ???

Ardent Alliteration Addicts, Anonymous Association
New So I didn't squeeze 'month' in, but...
This really needs 'beat' marks in it, coz it's way tenuous and needs some dodgy rhythm to scan correctly, but heck, says me, it rhymes.

If you eat too much food and your face goes all purple,
I safely ensure that one big hearty burp'll,
help tip up your house make your window sill vertical,
it will your crystal shake and then your best silver tickle,
worst of all is that your head will turn bright orange,
as you copy dear Ashtons smart usage of syringe...

On and on and on and on,
and on and on and on goes John.

New 1 in 4 Americans have appeared on TV
Maybe when they film a crowd in a Sports game, boxing match, etc?

The WWF RAW and Smackdown show the whole crowd in a short amount of time. I went to a match about a year and a half ago, with a sign that had my wife's name on it and a hello. I had to put the tape on slow motion to find myself, but there I was holding the sign up in the nosebleed seats. They scan the whole crowd.

I am free now, to choose my own destiny.
New Wondering about that myself
I think they mean somewhat more directly.

Like being in a highschool choir which is shown on a TV - ie you are part of the show, not the audience.

In which case I have been on TV.

Cheers,
Ben

New Heh. made the movies!
Military Academy. Long ago. Playing the bugle.. A really rotton C-grade plotless vacuous thing made on our campus, but still: The Movies. (Genyoowine Mitchell movie camera they let me look through)

Hey.. I signed AN autograph! :-\ufffd

Ashton Wynton Marsalis
New I know I've been filmed.
I was at an in-store band showing, and I saw a TV crew pointing the camera at me whilst I was singing along at one point. No idea if I was broadcast or not; the show was for a cable channel and I don't have cable.

Well, neither have I. But [link|http://thepoppages.tripod.com/billy.html|close]...

Cheers,

New Spelling Flame: It's 'capital', dammit, 'capit-A-l'!
Went to a public school, didja, K?

You and Marlowe: Discuss.
New Maybe Karsten is thinking of a state building in Carson.
Merriam-Webster: capitol

1 a: a building in which a state legislative body meets
1 b: a group of buildings in which the functions of state government are carried out
2 capitalized: the building in which the U.S. Congress meets at Washington

TAM ARIS QUAM ARMIPOTENS
New Uh... Yes, exactly. That was my point.
Which is it that is named 'Carson'[*][**] -- the capitAl of Nevada, or the capitOl in the capitAl of Nevada?

I know the capitAl is; as for the capitOl, I didn't even know they *had* names, besides "The Capitol"... do they, really?

[*]: Which I personally didn't think sounds all that much like 'Karsten'. Am I (mentally) pronouncing your name "wrong", K... Or are *you*? ;^)

[**]: Named after Kit C, IIRC.

New Am part of the 25%
Waaaaaaaaay back in the day....(OK, about 10 or 12 years ago) I was on the (new) Mickey Mouse Club show. In HS, band trip went to Disney World. (I play the saxophone, for those who care.) I was in the audience....But then they did a clip with audience participation. I was selected, and even had a (gasp!) speaking part!

I learned that an "interabang" is the technical term for "?!" (without the quotes).

Memories....
