Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Ok, I'll bite
Hey, it's a saying, relax. No matter what bman says.

Since you're here via gryg, I'll assume you've heard the worst anyway.

Of course, the subject line leads to visions of fresh meat being escorted onto the ship. Oh, was that my outside voice? Sorry.

List a profession or area of interest, toss in a news article for a starting point, and make a comment, pro, con, or informative, and see where it takes you from there.

Welcome to the nuthouse. Those that admit insanity usually have a leg up.

New Re: Ok, I'll bite
Thank you all for the warm welcome. What would I like to talk about??? Hmmm... probably best if I let you all know a bit about me first, no? Well, you know I'm a girl <hence the girly name, not my real one, btw>. I've already said I'm a friend of Andrew's <though he may not agree with that definition> and, no, pinky up is not required... that's the way I do it but am all about diversity, so pinky down is fine with me. I live in the City of Angels, so to speak, and I'm a graphic artist/journalist/painter/reformed telephone pole climber <5'4, black hair, brown eyes and the occasional bad attitude>

Now, I've heard you're all intelligent and sharp folks <I'll try to keep up> So, picking something completely random... what do you think about the new HBO series "Game of Thrones" ... anyone see the first episode? Anyone read the books? I loved the article in last week's issue of The New Yorker about Martin not finishing the series yet ...

New Game of Thrones
Top notch book. HBO's treatment surprised me first in that they even attempted it. Second in how well it adhered to the plot of the book. Fantasy stories don't have a good track record when transposed to film or tv. HBO seems to have decided to treat this one as the political thriller it most masterfully is. I was especially pleased they didn't shy away from the royal incest that features so prominently in the original.

Now let's see how well they do with the fantasy aspects in upcoming episodes.
I think the single most compelling piece of evidence for global warming is that Fox News viewers think it's a hoax.

It's like dingos mating with elephants: messy loud with lots of snapping and position changes.
