What's not to like? "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from." -- E.L. Doctorow |

Great food here as well
In fact, after two visits in 2009, itÂs easy to conclude that Houston has one of the most satisfying food scenes in the country right now. Best of all? Things are just getting started.http://www.nypost.co...6gc9vjrUrwdOc0XpN in the years since I left Houston, where I grew up, itÂs gone from a city where the high-end restaurants were as gilded as they were mostly mediocre to a place with a world-class food scenehttp://travel.nytime...vel/07choice.html Houstonians eat out more than residents of any other city.http://www.ghra.com/...try-facts-figures Winter - meh sports - meh Guess you've missed all the Tier One stuff going on with my alma mater UH Listed as a Top American Research University by The Center for Measuring University Performance in its 2009 Reporthttp://www.uh.edu/ab...009taru/index.php In January 2011, the University of Houston joined the ranks of the top research universities in the nation with the announcement by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching that placed UH in its top category of research universitieshttp://www.uh.edu/ab...ier-one/index.php University of Houston has been named one of the nationÂs best institutions for undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Reviewhttp://www.uh.edu/ab...princeton-review/ So your issue with Mr. Good Hair is he isn't corrupt enough for you? |
