rhetoric? Or just the righties

Exactly the same. Of course.
Out of context comments at a political fundraiser are exactly the same as hundreds of instances of incitement to violence. Exactly.

Malkin? And yeah, because all of those people have the same kind of platform that Palin has.
Dude, I can't help but point out that it's the right wing that are, you know... actually killing people in your country. |

Sshhhh..! digital-think is its own Reward
I could almost see voting for Palin in 2012 on the grounds that this sorry ratfucking excuse for a republic, this savage, smirking, predatory empire deserves her. Bring on the Rapture, motherfuckers! -- via RC |

Correct, of course..
as all discourse is naturally one sided.
Don't think Bill Maher has a platform? And who is giving these folks the press? Nah, its too easy just to blame one side and be done with it... Lets put Sarah in the chair for justice... FLQ members practised propaganda of the deed and issued declarations that called for a socialist insurrection against oppressors identified with "Anglo-Saxon" imperialism,[1] the overthrow of the Quebec government, the independence of Quebec from Canada and the establishment of a French-speaking Quebecer "workers' society". The organization was also influenced by other movements, such as those for the independence of former colonies such as Algeria, Vietnam and Cuba. Anti-colonialism, and un Quebec francais
fait de pure laine contre les Anglais imperialistes dans leurs tours d'affaires salles a Montreal. Don't try to run that one Box, you know it's bullshit. Sure, they dug the market socialism, but the socialism wasn't the driving force, it was wishing to make the quiet revolution loud and chase all of the English out of Quebec, not just the rich ones. Fortunately, the vast majority of Quebeckers didn't agree with them.

Re: should the folks on the left also tone down the violent
http://crooksandliar...-another-isolated Answer the highlighted last sentence above - I'd love to see a list of liberals who were either incited or inspired by the equivalent to Fox Network to plan to murder conservative politicians. "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from." -- E.L. Doctorow |

you have a dem in that list
-- February 2010: An angry tax protester named Joseph Ray Stack flies an airplane into the building housing IRS offices in Austin, Texas. (Media are reluctant to label this one "domestic terrorism" too.)

and it's RepubliCANTS and Fake News
that have created the environment in which these acts have occurred in the past few years.
Now, I ask again, if you can show me someone who is on television every day advocating violence against RepubliCANT politicians, post your proof. "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I was alive and awake back then
watching network news every day - still can't remember Elizabeth Vargas, Charles Gibson, Brian Williams, katie Couric, Dan Rather, or Bob Scheiffer advocating that liberals go attack RepubliCANT politicians.
I do remember reading many blogs where people (not politicians or news reporters) wrote in saying that Bush and Cheney should be tried for war crimes, though. "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. RE: show me the evidence
at "which level"? Please define. Oh, right - it's just another straw man. Not gonna play that game.
Like I told Box, go to mediamatters and do a search on the shit Rushbo says, then do a search on "eliminationist" rhetoric from the right wingnuts. And then go read all about the wonderful things RepubliCANTS and their mouthpieces on Faux Noise say about liberals and Democrats: http://dneiwert.blog...ica-appendix.html "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. Excuse me, its your need to qualify your statement
and you give me a link with maybe 1 example from someone on television.
You can't qualify your own statement. Ann Coulter is the best you got? Sure, understanding today's complex world of the future is a little like having bees live in your head. But...there they are.

Re: Excuse me, its your need to qualify your statement
For decades, the right wing has said that everything from TV to music to films contributes to the downfall of people and to criminal acts. According to the right wing, even the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction "hurt" and influenced tens of thousands of people and promptly slapped huge fines on the network. Yet, now, they say rhetoric is not to blame. Today, Sarah Palin said: "They begin and end with the criminals who commit them, not collectively with all the citizens of a state, not with those who listen to talk radio, not with maps of swing districts used by both sides of the aisle, not by law abiding citizens who respectfully exercise their rights at campaign rallies.....". So, Janet Jackson inspires moral decay and criminal behaviour, but talk radio rhetoric does not?
So which is it Bill - do images and rhetoric affect people ... or not? "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. IOW, the thread is finally dead.
You're not interested in a real discussion. Thanks for making it clearer.
Perhaps these "both sides" threads can be put to bed now? Cheers, Scott. |

Who's not interested in real discussion?
Linc is in here now throwing anything over the fence to see if it sticks...and STILL trying to say its the rhetoric in the face of mounting evidence that this kid didn't pay any attention to it.
So now the direction turns to "its still bad and they do it more often with more popular people". Pu-freakin-leaze. Sure, understanding today's complex world of the future is a little like having bees live in your head. But...there they are.
