Descent and Descent II were very good...
I think I still have the CDs around here somewhere.
Of course this was back in the day when P75 and P90s were required to run those programs... and IPX networks for multi-player.
They were the first 6-way movement games that I really used a joystick (with twisting and pull up and down) for (with the 4-way hat for weapons select) and the mouse for pitch and yaw and the mouse buttons for forward and reverse.
Loved the way it felt if you immersed yourself.
