New It's official..Disney has run out of ideas

I just saw the trailer for 'Hunchback of Notre Dame II'. Along with 'Cinderella II' and 'Return to Neverland', I think Disney has stopped even pretending that they have something original to say.

Another argument against extending the term of a copyright....

New um, Dhuuuuuh?
Cinderalla 2 and now there is a Hunch 2? Geeeeeezus Pitzas, is there a brain left in Florida or California?

New No no no, they just came down with
sequelits, the need to make sequels. Basically because they usually have a happy ending, they have to come up with another story to keep making money on the characters. Victor Hugo would most likely get ill at what they did to his characters that he wrote about in his book.

plus because they renewed the Characters of Peter Pan, Cinderella, and the Hunchback, they can keep the copyrights going. I think at one time they almost lost the rights to Whinnie The Poo and others?

But anyway, why make a totally new movie when you can just recycle the old ones and make a new one based on the old ones?

Disney did this before to Aladdin, The Rescuers, and others.

Maybe they can change the ending of "Old Yeller" and make a sequal out of that?

P.S. Don't forget Balto II, it is out as well.

New For every predator there is a rightful prey.
Disney as found theirs. I can't fault them for that, nor the methods they use to lure their prey, because nothing forces me to see these films (and you who are dragged off to the sacrifice by your children - I had nothing to do with that either).

New ..Waiting for *Aliens IV*
Where Ripley & friends turn their attention from the imaginary monsters to actual ones - Corporate. Local & worldwide. Think Die Hard + Ben Hur + The Shadow*

* Who Knows.. what evil lurks in the minds of men.

Ah hahahahahaha...

Rated NS - not suitable for Suits.
New Uh... You mean "Alien(s) 5", right?

I must admit, though, that the _Alien[s]_ series are some of the few Hollywood films that *do*, to quite an extent, take it out on the "Evil Corporation".

New Something I always liked about the Alien series...
...was the unswavering focus on who the Enemy really was.

I mean, when you get down to it, the Aliens aren't actually Evil. Bloodthirsty predators, yes, but evil, no. They're just doing what they're good at. It's humanity, ultimately, that is the betrayer in each film - turning its own over to the Alien hunger in order to gain profit.

After all, it's why we cheer in Aliens when that corporate schmuck gets the Jaws 'o Death from one of the critters...

New A Scottish series on the tube, too..
A C-grade series with actors almost as wooden as Barbara Bain.. and That's Wooden. Called Space Island, it's aboard the obligatory 2001-like rotating ring. It's pretty anti-Corp, but I doubt that the writers saw that as more than a 'detail' of an ongoing mediocre series of trivial plots.

But in fact: the mind-numbing b o r e d o m of the inmates, in carrying out 'research' for the Greater Good of the parent Corp -- may be enough of an indictment of all Corporate mindsets. It's made clear (by the mechanical voice of Corp audio, in exchanges) that - anyone who'd ever imagine they might create Insanely Great new dildoes or Whatever, shall be daily immersed in lies, deceptions and doubletalk. YAN portrayal of 'our' species as Ferenghi = That part may be the most accurate depiction! come to think of it {Ugh}... Maybe it's their *Truth* about US: that *IS* so fucking boring, jejeune, sleazy, and a few hundred others.

Hell it may even be an indictment of Celebrity Science-ism; especially with such semi-talented folk seeking er Recognition\ufffd (they'd best hope they aren't recognized Too clearly by whoever it is that 'recognizes stuff').

All-in-all a potboiler, carried by a Silly Valley PBS station KTEH, which tries to find Sci-Fi series (extra-PBS parent Corp material). Space Cops, Blake's 7, always Dr. Who, etc. This 'pledge drive' they offered Survivors and a couple others for people to vote-with-$ for. I deem that a sane approach too - put up or shut up. Beats Corp-TV and every other PBS station (they claim) re Sci-Fi offerings in the US. I send them $ natch - 100 mi. away, it stretches my super-yagi with two strings as 'rotator' ..

What you get in the civilized latitudes? Better than the above? Need satellite to cull the best of Europe or.. is it 'on the air'? I assume that everyone's on PAL, but have no idea what digital-TV infighting is going on there.

New Aliens V, H1B Menace, Aliens VI Corporate Downsizing
In Aliens V, the Preadtors come in H1B Work Visas to hunt in the local USA, the Xeno Bug Aliens also come in on H1B Visas due to Corporations forcing the government to increase the work visa quotas. Ripley is assigned to the HQ of the parent office that funded the space programs.

In Aliens VI, they find out that there is a much more deadlier threat than the Aliens and Preditors, it is the Pointy haired Bosses that run the Corporations, and they are ready to downsize!

New I'd like to see the descendents of the Grimms sue em.
So much for extending copyright, let's extend it forever and sue em for just about everyting they ever produced. How can you get copyright because of a treatment of an existing story/folktale? Isn't there anything like prior art for copyright?
With this much manure around, there must be a pony somewhere.
New No prior art for copyright
Because it is the expression, not the idea.

Somehow, that concept gets lost when Disney is suing somebody. Still, if you can show you are doing it from Grimm's and not Disney (not hard, if you don't mind a hard R rating, X if you go back to the earlier sources) you can get away with it. Anne Rice (AKA Rampling) never got sued for her version of Sleeping Beauty. (Skip it - bad even by porn standards.)
