First few days' review:
"Install stub" (sep. download from main) wasn't versatile enough to allow completing install via (friend's CD with the download). Could only expect a web download for next step.
Unzipped and ran (I forget the 'local install' .exe name!). EZ and impressive: I use bookmarks for a dbase, kinda and it's >1 mb. Ditto many e-mail folders. It correctly converted that all, flawlessly = both the ugly-4.5 and Moz. coexist for use. Mostly - correctly kept previous setup info; only minor tweaking needed.
The multiple mail option made simple, the use of both ISPs (next I can drop the wannabe-monopoly Earthlink, who gobbled up my small ISP - for my local guys Rob & Ron - who be sharp and.. available). No talking to someone in Sri Lanka for problem fixes. EZ enough even to reselect the SMTP server for either one. Yeah - Eudora prolly eventually, but WTF - it works adequately.. I like 'adequate'.
Minor glitches - occasionally doesn't want to Minimize! but stay at intermediate size. And as right here - sometimes a <-- or --> cursor move gets a surprising new location. (Buffer overrun !?) Can live with both.
Haven't tried out jscript ON much; usually don't - but it's gotta have more bells&whistles than the brain-dead 4.5 version. The built-in management for filing b/marks seems versatile enough, when I get a round tuit.
There's a lot of Stuff there, though - in two places; sure hope it continues to find all its guts. The Help files seem intelligently edited, on cursory glance; much less condescending [and way less stupid] than the McSoft style.. I didn't opt for the 'Quick Start' thingie - but it loads ~speed to the smaller 4.5 anyway.
So.. thanks, Alex for the (final) prod - and Peter? for earlier reminding - what a POS 4.5 was :(

finally past a 4.x release of something! Conservative by nature, I guess...
