All that Atari fame means he's now a major celebrity :)
I'm sure one of his entourage will be in touch to acknowledge the greetings :)
Happy Birthday Darrell!

Heh... Who linked this site? (Our other Aussie, right?)
Big ol' hard disks from Wade, wasn't it?
Anyway, for some reason I'm reminded of this page: [link|http://www.eatliver.com/i.php?n=2290|Best graffiti].
Can anyone say why?

What, no takers? Are you all that blind?
Isn't there a single one of you that sees the link between Meerkat's post and the [link|http://www.eatliver.com/i.php?n=2290|Best graffiti] page? Come on!

It was Wade who posted the [link|http://eatliver.com/i.php?n=2542|hard drive] link, not Meerkat. Are you talking about Meerkat's [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=295834|Atari Fame] post? There are no linkies there.
No, I don't see the link between the graffiti and the HD ad. You're being too obscure for me. Watchoo you talkin' 'bout, Willis?
Bring out the dissection tools!

Yup.

An elevator button (Otis, I think -- our elevator has similar buttons) doing service as the spaceship in arcade game classic, "Atari Asteroids".
(Now it only remains to find out if the game used to go "chirp", or if Amy is thinking of something else altogether -- tweetybirds, crickets, other Critters...? :-)

Now I get to be snarky with you, Christian :0)
And give you a big, fat WHOOSH!
The sound of crickets chirping is a diss. Like when a stand-up comic is bombing big time.
But you know I only diss with love :-)

- Why would you do that?

Answer # 2: It. was. a. joke.
/methinks I hear crickets now :-( Oh well, sometimes they stick to the wall, sometimes they don't. :-) Answer to question 1: In American pop-culture, the comic device of crickets chirping is used to show when a person performing on stage before an audience is "bombing"/"flopping"/ failing miserably. It means that there is no laughter, no response, the audience is dead, the allusion is that the person is in an empty parking lot, usually at night. If memory serves me, (which it usually spills soup in my lap, and shall get no tip...) this device is/was used in cartoons. Google-fu to the rescue! Daffy Duck's trained pigeon act and complicated tap dance number is answered by nothing but crickets chirping in the audience, while Bugs' simple song-and-dance numbers brings wild applause. [link|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daffy_Duck"|(See paragraph entitled Jones' Daffy)] Anyway, after that whole "spoof" thread debacle and the "whoosh", I kinda figgered turnabout was fair play. <shrug> Takes all the fun out of it. Still.... neener, neener, neeeeeeeener! :-)
