Tests show that I am a centrist
So I went and took [link|http://politicalcompass.org/test|this online political test]. My results:
Economic Left/Right: -0.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.00 Now, I've never put much stock in this thing called the political center. It's always seemed to me someone who calls himself a centrist is simply someone with no convictions. That's certainly not me. But this test says I'm smack dab in the center as far as my political views. Have a look at my previous postings. Would you describe me as centrist? And just what did *you* get as a score? In unrelated news, the Democrat congress has lower approval ratings than the previous one, even hostile witnesses admit the surge is working in Iraq, and I still haven't shifted my position one bit. Could it be that the centroid of political opinion in this country lies just about where I happen to be standing? Does that makes everyone who disagrees with me an extremist? Or is there something wrong with the test? Try taking it yourselves and post your scores. Let's see if we can find a pattern of bias. In the test, that is. Took it long ago, and again more recently.
I was a flaming Leftist Libertarian the first time, and a little more extreme the second time.
Judging by the scores others had, I'd say you need to clean up your act if you want to maintain your credibility as a right wing authoritarian - you're slipping.
Or are you just preparing yourself for the inevitable Democrat administration to come?

It's good you've collected all the links.
This time I was: Economic Left/Right: -5.25 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.87
... which puts me slightly more Authoritarian of the Dalai Lama. Hmm.
And I've shifted left and up a bit since last time whilst the time before matches this time. Interestingly, still all in the same region, though. That bodes well for consistency!
Edit: They've added an Australian page! What was *really* surprising to me was that I'm closest to the Greens than anyone else. :-O Problem is, I don't trust the Australian Green party... :-/
Edit #2: I did it again, answering all questions as Strongly Agree or Strongly Disagree. I went further Left (-7.75) but stayed only mildly Libertatian (-1.49). Interesting.
Wade.

The same as ever, only more so.
Got that burned out feeling, went semi-retired, got involved in local political activism by way of my business and social networking, and now I'm busier than ever. But strangely far less stressed out. The consulting life rocks! Just so long as you keep it balanced, that is.
An insight from an activist: the bad thing about Democrats is they've got no backbone. The good thing about Democrats is they're easily intimidated. Ever see a state senator squirm under your steady gaze? It's great entertainment. Lordy, what cowards. I never make any threats, implied or otherwise. I'm not even armed! I just turn my full physical presence on the target and let his imagination do the rest.
If you fear what your elected reps are doing behind your back, there's a simple remedy: don't turn your back to them.
And to think, the Left wing actually thought they'd won big last November. They won the booby prize. They bought and paid for the Democrat party, and it turns out to be an empty box.

out of the air and under the rocks
quite a switch, glad its working out. At least I know you are not in alaska as the dems there would laugh at someone trying to intimidate them and the republicans are all on trial for bribery. Good luck with the new life and make sure you cash the checks the same day they give it to you and dont extend credit. thanx, bill

Why are you here?
You have this odd idea that Democrats are somehow substantively different from Republicans (hint: they're not, it's just that the tiny differences are magnified under the lens of American political analysis) and that Democrat = bad! Republican = good!
You refuse to engage in debate, instead just posting up a load of contentious material, a load of links to some blogs, and then you bugger off again.
You're not some kind of beacon of truth, bringing enlightenment to the savages, you know, so you can forget any rebuttal along those lines to my suggestion that Scott randomise your password, lock all your posts, and block your IP.

Actually, I think it's more that they've got to rally the
troops for the push to keep congress away from the war's purse strings now that Petraeus has done his dog and pony show, and he's just doing his duty for the Party.

philbot physically intimidating elected officials? Hi there. I'm Willy Wanker. I won't divulge personal particulars, because I still live at home, and can't expose my widowed Irish mother to the depredations of the Islamofascist terrorists who would certainly smother her with a burkha if they knew where I lived. on the test, I havnt moved a bit
Economic Left/Right: -1.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.21 on your views you have changed a few things the war was being won and we just didnt understand
Im glad that you came to the conclusion that more troops are good, too bad it wasnt tried about 5 years ago would have saved a lot of american and iraqi lives.
that viewpoints by the site that offers that test are a tad whackjob
communism==facism where the far left meets the far right.
anarchy is where the big dog wins, not liberal socialism. Iraq in its present state is moving towards anarchy, not liberal socialism thanx, bill

Is it me or have you changed writing style?
I would say that's supporting evidence that you're a fake persona with a different person behind it but I wouldn't be that uncharitable. Who am I kidding? You're another agent for the US Republican party.
You may or may not be a centrist but your predecessor wasn't. Even the staunch Republicans on this board thought he was defending the undefendable. Oh, and welcome to the board.
Since you ask, my scores are Economic Left/Right: -7.12, Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.92. Looks about right to me.

I vote: remain inhuman. It's more fun.
We've grown accustomed to your feys.
None here is apt to live long enough, anyway - to witness either adult behavior or a particularly good grade of P.L.A. (whichever case -?- accounts for the artless makeover/software upgrade.)
Never shall we hear a grown-up apology, ~ "I'm sorry I've been such an insolent prick all along -- a naive dupe of my neoconman handlers. I acknowledge that a lot of people have died because of gullible people just like me."
But that would spoil all that perfect-Certainty! It's best that you remain utterly predictable - for us..
Then we'll always have.. that wasp-in-amber.
