I have a brother who is a Virginia baptist snake oil salesman and he's crazier than a shithouse rat. I'm totally unconvinced that this is a joke. My sense of humor has been totally buggered in the past few years so I wouldn't bet highly on its reliability. Go with your best guess...

I think it is a parody because it doesn't look like the Second Baptist Church of Rockdale, where they supposedly held a fund-raiser, exists.
