Welcome to IWETHEY!

New We bought a PS2 for my son last weekend
The number of games available for the platform is astounding. So far he has Gran Turismo 4 and Final Fantasy 10. GT4 is incredible; it's like watching a movie. He hasn't played FF10 yet.

We decided to rent some games as well to try: Sly Fox II (very cool... cartoonish, for kids, but with an excellent sound track), Destroy All Humans (hysterically funny... the idea is you're an alien sent to, well, destroy all the humans. Much like Bush, I suppose.), FF12 (haven't played it yet), and God Of War (which is incredibly bloody and racy... not for kids).

My dad is interested in buying some MLB and Civil War games for it.

All in all I prefer the Wii still, but the PS2 is an interesting addition.

New You do understand...
That I have nearly 900 games available for my XBOX (Gen-1).

That they are really astounding for quality of picture as well?

The Playstation 3 does very well, as well.

But the Wii has Mii, plus a buncha twitch games, which makes it very nice.

If you've never really seen the 480(i or p) or 720(i or p) games on the XBOX... I'd hold judgment.

Yes, the PS2 is nice and cheap now. The games are too.

Every think of Mod'ding it?

New Re: You do understand...
Actually, according to GameSpot, the XBox has 1162 games.

But the PS2 has 2687. :-)

Not that it really matters, because there's no way any of us would have time to play 1/10 of those.

I'm not really interested in which one is "better" than the other, either. The PS2 has some very nice looking stuff. Considering that we have a first generation projection TV, it's not going to matter much regardless...

I wouldn't exactly call Twilight Princess a "twitch" game, either. At any rate, what makes the Wii such a great platform is the controller.

And no, I don't see much point to modding it.

New If you start with a oneupsmanship game...
You have to expect a reply in kind.

New Check out the Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter series
[link|http://www.insomniacgames.com|Insomniac] makes some great games. Their platform series [link|http://www.insomniacgames.com/games/spyro.php|Spyro] for the PSone is what got me back into consoles. The gameplay, control and music(by Stewart Copeland of The Police!) are all excellent. They all play fine on the PS2. Be warned that Spyro series for the PS2 were done by a different company, and they've all sucked hard.

For the PS2 Insomniac came up with [link|http://www.insomniacgames.com/games/rc.php|Ratchet & Clank] (sequels [link|http://www.insomniacgames.com/games/rc2.php|Going Commando] and [link|http://www.insomniacgames.com/games/rc3.php|Up Your Arsenal]) They're platform as well, but with all sorts of [link|http://ps2.ign.com/articles/375/375514p1.html|fun weapons & gadgets]. A lot of tongue-in-check too - R.Y.N.O = Rip Ya a New One.

Their [link|http://www.insomniacgames.com/games/rcftod.php|next R&C game] may be the deciding factor in me getting a PS3.

The Jak & Daxter series by [link|http://www.naughtydog.com/|Naughty Dog] is another good one. They also did the Crash Bandicoot series on the PSone.

Insomniac and Naughty Dog both put references to the other company's games in theirs(such as billboards with Jak & Daxter in one of the cities that Ratchet & Clank visit).

New They couldn't properly model...
...All the different gaskets and other things that can possibly go wrong with an A8, so they had to leave it out of the game.

Somebody rip my heart out

Somebody save my life
I'd rather be Anything but Ordinary
