New The guy is in an insular Web 2.0 bubble
and world of computing is about so much more.

For large parts, the non-MS future is Linux, not Apple.

--Tony
New Yup, insular.
Mac users tend to clump together and be rather unaware of the larger world as they worship Steve Jobs - ignoring both his and Apple's many failures.

A funny - maybe 6 years ago I was having lunch in a Thai restaurant. A group of about 8 guys walked in, all dressed "casual chic". I noticed a rather odd uniformity of style and personal appearance and said to myself, "Mac users". Sure enough, they sat down at a nearby table and immediately started talking about Macs - for the whole lunch.

New But Apple is the real Vista upgrade.
I'm starting A & P school in the Fall (Spring '08 if the new building doesn't get its FAA approvals by August) so I don't have much in the way of interest in what happens to computers. Whenever anyone asks me if they should upgrade to Vista I always tell them, "If you have a need for the things Vista provides, buy an Apple and you'll be much happier."

It would seem, therefore, that the three human impulses embodied in religion are fear, conceit, and hatred. The purpose of religion, one might say, is to give an air of respectibility to these passions. -- Bertrand Russell
