Welcome to IWETHEY!

New This made my day!
I just noticed the poll of the week over at Atari Age - [link|http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=104673|2600 Homebrew of the Year 2006]

Not too shabby - Medieval Mayhem's #2 behind Lady Bug. Lady Bug's [link|http://www.atariage.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=21_85|#4 in the bestsellers](right hand column) for Atari Age. It's been available 7 months vs Medieval Mayhem's 3 months.

Nice comments too:

Lady Bug is my favorite singleplayer game of the year, and Medieval Mayhem is my favorite multiplayer game of the year, and is the best homebrew paddle game to date (surpassing my previous favorite, Marble Craze).

Medieval Mayhem is awesome - almost hard to believe it's running on a 2600. I wish I was able to play the game with my 3 brothers like with Warlords & the good ol' days (hopefully next Christmas).

There's also [link|http://www.atariage.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_reviews&cPath=21_85_24&products_id=842&number_of_uploads=0|1 review] online so far - 5 joysticks out of 5. Not a very in-depth review, but nice nonetheless :-)

Atari Times [link|http://ataritimes.com/rankings.php?System=2600|2600 Game Rankings] currently has Medieval Mayhem at #2 as well. It has 5 votes averaging 98%; just behind Ladybug with 9 votes, also averaging 98%.

New That must be very gratifying

I4 NOW!

New Ah, Warlords
or more specifically, Warlords II. It runs like a champ under warp, and it's one of the major reasons I have a warp partition here because it doesn't run under XP.
New further back
I assume you're referring to this [link|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warlords_(game_series)|Warlords II](there's a fix mentioned to make it run under XP)?

Mine's a remake of an [link|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warlords_%28game%29|older game] with the same name.

New Holy crap
they had that cocktail one down at thirteen acres where I hung out as a pfy in the early eighties.
New You may be able to try mine out under OS/2
Nab the [link|http://www.spiceware.org/downloads/MedievalMayhemNTSC.bin|ROM] off my site then use Stella.

Sadly [link|http://home.houston.rr.com/spiceware/stella.html|my port of Stella] doesn't know how to handle F4 (32K) Atari games - only F4SC (32K + extra RAM) as there weren't any known 32K games w/extra RAM back in 2000 :-(

There's a newer [link|http://smedley.info/os2ports/index.html|SDL port here] that runs my game but has issues that I suspect are because I'm running OS/2 via Parallels on my Macbook. Audio doesn't work correctly and the game speed is inconsistant, speeding up and slowing down. This port of Stella doesn't know about my game so you'll have to change a few settings, especially "use paddles" or Stella will think a joystick is plugged in.
1. start Stella
2. load Medieval Mayhem
3. hit TAB, a menu will pop up
4. select Game Properties
5. on the CARTRIDGE tab set SOUND to STEREO
6. select the CONTROLLER tab
7. change both controllers to PADDLES
8. hit OK
9. hit EXIT MENU
10. restart the emulator for the change to take effect. Under OS X use APPLE R, under Windows and Linux use CONTROL R. You'll get a message "New Console Created" when it restarts.

Once you've done this, Stella will remember the settings if you play the game again later. However, you'll have to do it again if you download a new build.

I also had a problem with the new version Stella were I couldn't control the in-game-menu if I switched it to full screen mode - and after switching it to full screen mode it would always start up in full screen mode. I was able to switch back to windowed by starting it via command line using:
stella -fullscreen 0
