Just bad news now.
Bad news: I am still unemployed.
I was passed over for someone younger "not set in his ways".
The behavioral cinched my neck for me.
Sympathy is unwelcome, I don't need it nor want it.
What I need is 10 years off my age and less experience.

A next interview is scheduled.
Thursday, March 29, 2007 1500 (-0400)
They skipped me right past the first "HR" interview, the second technical interview and have gone straight to the third behavioral interview which is done by the hiring manager and a select team.
I am... for the first time *EVER*, nervous about an interview. Sure I have been tense and twitchy, but this... nervousness, never. But thankfully no pit in my stomach like I had previous to the other ones.

Behavioral Interviewing is all the rage
They'll look at your past responses and behaviors to specific events to predict future performance. You'll hear a lot of questions like "Tell us about a situation where you..." And to take the edge off the nervousness, remember that you're interviewing them as well to see if the job is a good fit for you. Put on your fancy clothes, take a deep breath and show em what you got. :-)

Give yourself plenty of time
Rushing and lateness is bad for nervousness. Allow plenty of travel time and you can relax and think the entire way.

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin? - Mark Renton, Trainspotting.

fwiw, I'd be in the same situation if I ever lose this position, only my skills would now be considered obsolete.
