Seconded
I do side work, and my requirements fall along the lines of Java/Tomcat/Postgres/Perl/SSH. The other guy I work with requires cPanel for his own administrative duties on this system.
We've found two places over the last couple of years that have met our needs -- on the face of it.
When the rubber has met the road, one site flopped miserably in the customer service arena as well as helping us figure out why stuff Just Plain Stopped Working on their hardware after it had been up-and-running for some number of months. (This site was www.energizedhosting.com. Do not use them.)
The second place has -- twice -- managed to completely fuck over our Postgres database (tables, rights, and data missing.) "How did they accomplish that?" you ask? Why, by upgrading cPanel, of course. Oh, and they don't back up Postgres databases, so I had to restore everything from emails that I had decided to keep around "just in case." (This site is www.assortedinternet.com. Do not use them.)
I'm considering re-working this application to use MySQL instead of Postgres, just so there are a larger number of hosts that might possibly support us.
