Guess it's time to find a host, anyone got a recommendation?
Need: PHP Postgres SSH access Multiple mailboxes
Nice to have: CVS ImageMagick Webmail
Storage space is more important than bandwidth.
I can google for it, does anyone have any first-hand experience?

From Mr. Cheap here
I use [link|http://www.micfo.com/cpanel-web-hosting.html|these guys]. Dunno about how they rate compared to others, but they serve my (modest) needs...

You've got one problem there.
From what I see Postgres support is not common - everyone offers MySQL. I have some sites hosted at www.hostultra.com at very attractive rates but they don't list Postgres support.

Seconded
I do side work, and my requirements fall along the lines of Java/Tomcat/Postgres/Perl/SSH. The other guy I work with requires cPanel for his own administrative duties on this system.
We've found two places over the last couple of years that have met our needs -- on the face of it.
When the rubber has met the road, one site flopped miserably in the customer service arena as well as helping us figure out why stuff Just Plain Stopped Working on their hardware after it had been up-and-running for some number of months. (This site was www.energizedhosting.com. Do not use them.)
The second place has -- twice -- managed to completely fuck over our Postgres database (tables, rights, and data missing.) "How did they accomplish that?" you ask? Why, by upgrading cPanel, of course. Oh, and they don't back up Postgres databases, so I had to restore everything from emails that I had decided to keep around "just in case." (This site is www.assortedinternet.com. Do not use them.)
I'm considering re-working this application to use MySQL instead of Postgres, just so there are a larger number of hosts that might possibly support us.

Thanks all for the feedback
Will be researching tonight.
OBTW the new IP doesn't seem to be on the nastysite lists yet. Renewed popularity will some day be a double-edged sword.

Two things:
1) You're perfectly welcome to keep your site on chutney, with all the attendant caveats (I'm guessing you don't want this... :-).
2) The IP number hasn't changed, so I'm not sure why the site would have been removed from any lists.

Well in that case ...
I think I'd like to get them working again while I look for a new host. Are they backed up on chutney somewhere?
As for the lists, I'll assume we were dropped from the list when they saw we didn't exist any more.

If I don't overuse the new address at $LGC, I might be able to post from there for another year or so...
