Happy New Year
15 minutes early for East Coast, 5 hours late for Peter & CRC.
But it's the thought that counts.
May everyone one have a better new year that 2006.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. (Herm Albright)

No, it wasn't
but many parts of it sucked massively.
Here's hoping that '07 is healthier, wealthier and a lot more fun.
So far, so good :)

Depends on who you are.
I think I can pretty much safely say that if something hadn't happened last Wednesday (a purely platonic thing, but one with a massive karmic payback) I would have written up this year as the worst year of my life.
Now I'm being chased by the Warrior Maid of Rohan, and I'm the only guy at parties that women will give their contact info to.

Re: Depends on who you are.
Ditto that.
And it also depends on what happened to you and yours.
I consider this to have been one of the worst years of my life in environmental aspects and family related issues. It seemed that every month had a crisis and then as we hit October, it was every week!
So far I've had two rather peaceful days of 2007, and a crisis that could have been was thankfully averted, so that's not bad for the start of the year.

Right back atcha.
It's 6pm here now on the 1st. I got to see the famous Sydney Harbour fireworks about 4km up the harbour from the bridge. :-) We got back home about 1:30...
Once I get my film developed, I'll see if any pics are worth posting.

Film? What's film?
/me is totally jealous. Last night they must have said "greatest party in the world" about 20 times, referring to Times Square. Then they show clips from Sydney, Mumbai and Reo. And New York was the best. Chyeah.

Re: Film? What's film?
Film is something that will last anywhere from 5 to 20 times as long as videotape or digital recordings on magnetic disks/hard drives.
If we didn't have film, all of those WWII historical documentaries would be lost forever by now.

"Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. Nog.
Whilst I like instant-ness of digital and the D70 is a very good camera, I'm finding I like my (only slightly) older F60 film camera somewhat more. Even with it's limits. Perhaps because.
I also like having more control over the film-to-digital process when I scan it myself, although I could probably do that if I shot RAW in a digital.

My neighbors threw a VERY loud party
and didn't invite me - THE BASTARDS!
Not a big deal, because I could sleep through it, but the shooting off of fireworks indiscriminately pissed me off. Had to stay awake just in case the roof caught fire.
Sadly, saw on this morning's newscast that that did happen to somebody last night; in nothing flat a guy and his family are out on the street, homeless, with only the clothes on their backs. By the times the smoke alarms went off, it was already too late.

Same here, Alex!
I expected your message [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=277137|here], by the Water Cooler. :) I looked for it there first, too. ;) On a positive note here, I'm feel like I'm off to a good start! Some of my new ideas have worked today, and I'm impressed! I got a lot accomplished I had hoped to get accomplished, including getting today's paper read TODAY(despite being behind... a new plan I have to read all but the comics till I catch up), all my laundry done, the large wall calendar done on the FIRST day of the month (something I'm now striving for, or at least the first week anyway), and tried out a new format for my journal (to write my letter from) which is so far, working! I got very little done online, but my priorities are changing in 2007, and things that involve my husband or my household are TOP priority from here on out. So instead of sitting online today, I did things with John, like copy and put away some Christmas CDs (he copied and I put away), watched an actual movie (one out of the collection that has been taped from our TV for years), and we both did laundry together all day and all the clothes are put away, not sitting in baskets waiting for me to do that! John and I had spent part of this holiday weekend repairing our mailbox (which has been tied down to the stand for some time now), with help from my dad, so that was also a top priority. I had designed a better mailbox mounting block and together we assembled it. ;) Course it took a little creative engineering on all our parts, and a couple trips to the hardware store! ;) I also managed to write in my group TODAY, (another goal of mine to try and post more often there, maybe not every day, but often enough. My 360 Blog is something I'm not sure if I want to continue, but we'll see. So, with all that under my belt, I think 2007 got off to a pretty good start. :) Catch you all soon! Brenda Nightowl >8#
