Welcome to IWETHEY!

New One of our new kitties has tapeworms.
Man. It even sounds gross. Both kittens were strays and had fleas when they were brought to the shelter. The vet said Mo got tapeworms from his mother or by ingesting fleas.
So I asked how is it transmitted to humans. The vet said not to worry, we'd only get it by ingesting the fecal matter.

So I start to think about those kittens scratching around in the litter box and then climbing into bed with me and walking all over my head with those wormy paws. Creeps me out a little bit.
New You'll have to inspect your turds.

New So ...
...when they say that a kitten will worm its way into your heart, I guess it's not such a nice thing after all :)

Two out of three people wonder where the other one is.
New We have Christmas Kittens!
Well, not exactly us...

You see, in gross disregard to one of our more retrograde "ordinances", we're providing food for a loose colony of ferals in our area. They do a great job of ridding the surrounding wooded area of rodentia (while leaving the squirrel population relatively untouched -- yes, I do know that squirrels are rodentia, but they're not that kind of rodentia....)

Anyway, one of the ferals brought her 2, roughly 6-7 week old kittens to the feeding area. I don't care how grumpy you might be at any given time...watching two 6 week old kittens boing around, completely unaware of anything but each other, can't help but bring a smile to one's face.

(And, you know, those li'l buggers are fast!)

New It might creep you out, but it's not icky to deal with.
For start, tapeworm treatment for humans is tablets. Very easy.

And cats are naturally clean animals. They *usually* don't spread that kind of dirt around. I say usually, because they can still accidentally step in it, whatever they're age. :-/

One of my cats has always been accurate in the tray, which means she goes exactly where she digs and covers it all neatly. Even from 10 weeks. The other one was more spatially challenged: she had trouble matching the location of the covering action with the location of what needed covering. I mention this because I'm given to believe it's unusual: all the cats my parents have ever had have been pretty good on that score. So.

New That's what I thought
Then we had a kitten break his leg falling off a rocking chair. He couldn't quite control the splint while in the box. (Yes, we spent more getting the leg fixed than we had just spent to get him. :-/ ) The end of that bandage looked nasty by the time it came off.

New Actually, I wonder my sister's cat hasn't broken something.
Chrissy is the most un-co-ordinated cat I've ever seen. She often has trouble walking in a straight line unless it's against a wall. Put her on a balustrade and she will lean against you and she would never jump up there by herself. The only reason she doesn't fall off things is because she picks things bigger than herself to not fall off of.

Well, as long as you can bottle it up I'm sure that's perfectly healthy.
