Merry Christmas to all
Except you Godless communists and liberal atheist heathens.
[link|http://dkime.com/pics/image_dir.php?dir=xmas-2006|Christmas morning in the Kime household].
This is [link|http://dkime.com/pics/xmas-2006/P1000605.JPG|just what she wanted].
I can't believe [link|http://dkime.com/pics/xmas-2006/P1000615.JPG|she's only four].
[edit] And it takes my mother to point out that it's still 2006. None of you supposed geeks caught that.

Speaking as a liberal athiest heathen
I just got back from my standard Christmas meal.
Chinese buffet with some added goodies. Peking duck, extra crispy skin. Lots of ginger lobster, snow crab, and other stuff. Yum.

What they don't tell you on the box
THey show maximum weight, but they don't mention that girls' size 10 shoes are too small to strap in.

Bet she is disappointed
Probably for the best, though. Emma put hers on, was hopping around, then the shoe came down on it's side. She twisted her ankle and fell hard. She's fine, but she's not liking those moon shoes anymore.

Haven't given up hope yet
She needs new snow boots anyway. We're hoping they're big enough to make a difference.

Nice hardwood floor
Something I hope to achieve in my future house back in my native state.

"Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from." -- E.L. Doctorow

Yep, they're not *completely* trashed yet
All I did when I moved in was take up the carpet, clean the floors with Simple Green, and put down a coat of polyurethane. I've got several spots that are peeling, and one place where the rocking chair totally chewed it up. But I'm not going to worry about it until the kids are older, and not so hard on the furnishings.
It's still funny to think that once upon a time that was standard, and people with money made sure to cover them up.

We've already bonded sufficiently, thanks.
But those are MUCH better than what my daughter got. I was thinking that in order to be safe(r), they needed a boot to keep the ankles stable, and voil\ufffd! You come up with a pair! Of course, they cost about $200 more than the moon shoes, so my kids wont ever own them.
