Once you got the setup, there wasn't anything really surprising. Yes, I mean formulaic family comedy. But well written, well acted, amazing effects. Really amazing, as in no more than two or three small places where you could see what was digital and what was costumes/physical effects.

If you're looking for something to do with the kids over the holidays, this definitely gets a thumbs up. Even if you don't have kids, this one might be worth a matinee just so you can see it on the big screen.
