In the parts of Sydney I frequent - i.e. the Sutherland Shire where I live and North Sydney where I work - burqas are very rare and naqibs almost completely absent. On the other hand, haijibs are widespread, but tend to stand out.
When I was working elsewhere in Sydney a few years ago, I drove daily through a strongly Muslim suburb. At one bus-stop nearly every morning was a lady in full burqa and naqib with her children waiting for the school bus. That is the *only* consistent siting of a naqib I have.
Interestingly, my parents helped the Red Cross some years ago when Australia housed some Kosovo refugees for a while. The refugees' religious affiliation was Islamic, but it seemed to be somewhat Westernised: the traditional forms of dress were nowhere to be seen.
