-dsOnTime is making me paranoid.
I assume others here have noticed the rapid increase in the numbers of "users" here in the past few weeks. What's going on? We have 943 registered users here at the moment, but only 389 have ever posted anything. Some are no doubt lurkers, but could many of the others, especially those created over the past few weeks, be involved in spam or Google pollution or something?
Could URLs for avatars in "Edit Preferences" somehow be used for nefarious purposes?
Should user accounts be expired if they show no user activity after X months?
Do we need more active user security here, or am I worried about nothing?

No, I just got rid of them.
From the looks of it someone has bothered to write an automatic login creator for this software, so they'll just keep coming.
I changed the form parameter names, but that's a temporary fix.

You should generate unique form parameter names every time.
And only accept post - no get for creating logins.

- where it comes to the Search for Truff. IMho. I deem that balance to be among CRC's more admirable qualities (as opposed to the others ;)

Besides, getting all hissy about one expert's different set of priorities about some er, procedure seems not unlike arguments that.. one MD gives Officer-grade stitches whilst another always employs the Privates' turkey-grade basting ;-)
