Gaaaa . . . feathers everywhere!
No, I didn't catch a "free range" turkey or decide to eat my pigeons.
I had the sewing machine out and since I'd remembered to wash the pillow ticking fabric last weekend I made a long overdue pillow. The feathers had been, for some time, sewn into two layers of old pillow cases and then stuffed into another case - but feathers go through pillow case fabric like a fart does.
Stole some extra feathers from the lady's side pillow to make up for attrition (I considered that pillow badly overstuffed).
Why not just buy new pillows? Well, whenever I buy a new pillow I immediately take half the feathers out, which has resulted over the years in a heap of plastic bags of feathers and I just don't need any more.
The sewing machine was out to repair an old pair of pants sufficiently to do roofing work in, so now I need to go out and lay some roofing because it's going to rain soon.

"Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from." -- E.L. Doctorow

Yup, two kinds of tar, brushable and spreadable . . .
. . and a long 4x4 that'll do fine as a rail. To do tar and feathers right though, you have to heat the tar, that's part of the fun, but I think the spreadable might do for that. Now if I could just get my hands on Cheney . . .

I read it and thought ...
Crazy bastard's going to spend so much time on this project, if he just billed another hour to some client he'd be able to buy whatever-the-hell kind of pillow he wants. Don't the dry cleaners in your neighborhood have seamstresses on staff? Damn, throw them some work. Oh, and if you just happen to mention your latest culinary adventure in front of the seamstress, and she just happens to be available for dinner ...

All the seamstresses around here are Korean . . .
. . and Orientals just don't appeal to me that much. Besides, it only takes 15 minutes to make a pillow, stuff it and seal it. Now if she could do roofing I'd have been a little more interested.
