Well, the [link|http://www.pollstar.com/news/viewnews.pl?NewsID=7394|Stones were a non-issue] as Sir Mick couldn't sing...so they canceled.
[link|http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20061024/1014315.asp|This] is a pretty good review of the show. I had seen father in concert (even have a signed ticket stub!) and the one thing that you can never deny is musicianship. Dweezil found musicians that his father would have likely had in his band. Napolean Brock was a fixture for the entire show...(and was also a zappa band member at my first show, as was Steve Vai). Multi talented, sang nearly everything and played sax and flute when needed, and danced his silly dance when he wasn't.
Terry Bozzio was introduced to sing "I'm so Cute"...apologized for his hair not being tall enough (at his age, its hard to keep it up he says) and proceeded to then show, through 4 or 5 numbers lasting nearly an hour why he's one of the best drummers to ever grace the stool.
A couple numbers into Bozzio, Steve Vai was introduced. What is really surprising is just how good Dweezil has gotten on guitar. While he is no Steve, he really was phenomenal and has definitely been able to adapt from his former shred self to a more creative, complex soloist...just like pops.
Wife, who was not well versed in Zappa (and thus made me a nervous host, thinking a concert may be too much for a first time) watched diligently and without prompting on the close of the last encore (after 3hr20min) "EXCELLENT SHOW".
She was, of course, absolutely correct.
