This is what I hate about our legal system
Someone from England couldn't possibly be expected know our system well enough to understand the implications of what they did. Hell, most Americans wouldn't get it. And in fact the comments on /. when this was posted indicate that most of them still didn't get it even after having it explained.
Now a "reasonable man" might start out saying, "How can the state possibly have jurisdiction? I would think only the feds could take this on." Then when it gets to the feds, that reasonable man might say, "Now that I think about it, I don't think you've got any jurisdiction either." But having said to the state judge that this couldn't be less than a federal case, he has agreed to give that court jurisdiction!
I'll tell you what, if someone wants me to come to court, they can send people with warrants and handcuffs. Until then, I don't see any advantage in recognizing a court's authority.
