The new policy on "carry on" fluids on the other hand makes sense. Only lack of imagination delayed that policy. The one with the sign that says all your shit has to fit inside it for it to count as carry-on? How about we just enforce that one? I know people want to get off the plane and walk out without having to wait for the baggage carousel. But there is no good reason for the airlines to allow duffel bags as carry-on. All I need is a garment bag with a suit, couple changes of socks and undies, basic toiletries, and my laptop computer (so I can continue to pay the rent since I'm back to hourly work). Its a small duffle bag but it will save me at least a couple hours at either end and I'd be able to breeze right through. Only now I. AM. FUCKED. There will now be no point in bringing the computer. The airlines better bring back meals since I can't bring my own or I'm gonna be one PISSY LOW BLOOD SUGARED ASSHOLE by the time I finish my 6 hour cross country ordeal. On domestic flights, I'd rather take my chances. The mad dash to be the first to board so you get to use the entire overhead is ridiculous. The airlines need to figure out a way to make checking baggage -- and picking it up on the other end -- less of a hassle. For them, it appears it was worth the expense to develop a good system. It was a full hour to hour and a half after deplaning before I was able to depart the airport in both locations.
