It's happened.
My beautiful girl, my Kabuki, is gone.
With me for close to 17 years, she's seen me through the best of times, and the worst of times. She loved me unconditionally, with all her heart, as only a pet can. I loved her as much in return.
Kabuki was small, weighing only 3-1/2 pounds, and delighted in sitting on my shoulder. She would ride with me everywhere as I walked around, and we would watch tv, surf the web, chat and work together.
She'd been fighting cancer for over a year, and I made a decision not to put her through operations that (the doctor said) might kill her; and I'm glad to say it was the right decision. She was never in pain, thankfully, (a little purr-factory until the end), and she went peacefully, in her sleep.
I'll miss her more than I can say.

Today I'm taking her to the crematorium.
I'll scatter some of her ashes in the courtyard of the apartment complex where she spent the bulk of her life, and the rest will stay with me...

I so sorry for your loss.

Thank God I didn't have to do that!
I was afraid she would deteriorate to that point; I didn't want to have to either a) do it myself, or b) have her go on an operating table away from home...
I feel for you...

I'm steeling myself.
My mum's cat is getting on and getting old and has a special place for me. I've always had cats around and haven't always fared well when they die, so I know I'll miss Daisy when she goes.
Fortunately, I have two kittens of my own which will considerably cushion the loss when it occurs.

I had a shoulder cat
We didn't know it, but he was sick when we got him. Didn't last a year. He was the first pet I ever had, and the first one I lost. It's tough. Best wishes on the way.

She was the kitten of a semi-feral cat at the old apartment complex I lived in. I was lucky that she was always robust, even though she was a true 'runt'. She had some kittens when she was younger, and THOSE cats were huge when they grew up...
