am enjoying my new aquisition, stereo
have been eyeballing these for a while, look like antique tabletop radio, has phonograph, cd and radio built in. At $100.00 it was too expensive. At a local liquidator I found them for $64.00 so hauled it home and now am knee deep in joplin, willie nelson and pete fountain. Havnt had a phonograph in many years. thanx, bill

Be sure to sharpen the cactus needle after every 3rd play (stylus.. we don't gots no steenkin stylii..)
You're missing the real fun of retro - - an old Emerson, with modrin caps and new tubes. The translucent case in a dark room, and a hare raising half-hour of Inner Sanctum (today piped in by what must be lots of CDs of those shows), complete with ads for even stranger stuff than Walmart.
But you have to hear it through that single-ended tube output stage - -
And maybe a couple of, The FBI in Peace and War ... to get you into the spirit of next season's series: Fatherland Security Agents Duel with Fiendish Terrierists - their Neighbors and misguided Children.

That reminds me...
When we were kids and there would be a storm, invariably the electricity would get cut off. My mom used to play cassettes of old radio shows by candlelight. We loved it. Our favorite was listening to "The Shadow" with Orson Welles as Lamont Cranston.
There was also a drama called, "The Cat Wife". It was creepy and goood!

My piano needs juice
Alesis QS-8 - 88 weighted keys with a boat load of great accoustic sounds.
But it requires power. Fortunately, we, like most people on the island, have a generator.

Oh man, turn the lights down low
get my 1958 scratchey copy of Hank Williams "moanin the blues". Beer in hand, rain bouncing off the roof music hissing out of the speakers. A couple of hours of this I might end up going into town to kick the shit out of somebody. thanx, bill

I love the vinyl sound too :)
I still have a working phonograph and a stash of LPs and 45s. And I agree, sometimes that scratchy sound is just the thing to bring back memories and put you in a nostalgic mood.

I bought one of those for myself last Christmas.
I love the look- it gives my living room a comfy ambiance. Sound quality is okay- it doesnt really kick out the jams, but it fits my decor, the price was right, and it's great having a turntable again.
