US Navy in gun fight with pirates

Two U.S. Navy ships exchanged gunfire with suspected pirates Saturday off the coast of Somalia, and one suspect was killed and five others were wounded, the navy said.

Could go here or in Oh Pun because they must have been out of their minds to open fire under the situation. The pirates had a 30 foot fishing boat, and opened fire on a cruiser and a destroyer. They US ships returned fire with just their machine guns and ended the fight instantly.

I would guess the US ships interrupted the pirates in the middle of something and they panicked. But they where so badly outmatched it is still funny, the cruiser was the USS Cape St. George, a Ticonderoga class missle cruiser. Ships of this class are speced at 567 feet long.
