MS is threatening to release Origami
Which looks a bit like a Newton clone to me. (In fact, the original Newton architect went to MS when the Newton was killed).

Well, they got the advertizing part of the project done...
... and that's always the toughest part of any project.

It might be interesting.
But there's the whole 'Microsoft Windows' thing again. :-/
I don't think I'm in any hurry, fortunately. If Apple decide they want the market for a PDA again (an iPad perhaps?), then I would definitely consider their offering. If MS get something to market first, then I would probably consider it, too.

Seen this?
I understand that apple owns the patents to [link|http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVI6xw9Zph8|this technology]. My brother told me he read that current speculation is that's going to be the UI for OSXI, and that there's a PDA/Tablet-ish device in the works. But you know how Apple rumors are.

That is amazing.
That's the first time in a very long time I've seen anything truly and realistically next-generation.
Wow.

As an animated GIF
but this was much more impressive!
The GIF's at the bottom of [link|http://hrmpf.com/wordpress/48/new-apple-patents|this page] that talks about Apple's patent.

I'd agree, but..
..will it be possible to boot from another device at all on the thing?
I say two weeks from availability.

Too easy to make usb 'non-bootable'
via the bios. It's not insurmountable, of course (prolly be easy) which is why I think there will be a delay.
