Bills can never only declare
I may not like it but I would see nothing illegal with a bill that declared a particular religion as the states official one if that is all that it did.
Leaving aside the idea of separation of state and religion, legislation is never used to declare a demographic fact or sentiment. No one would ever go through that effort just to exclaim statistics or spout a sentiment. Legislation is an attempt to force what ought to be. A bill that merely declares an official sentiment, cannot exist. They all have agendas.
One possible agenda is to force the courts to recognise the christian god as an entity. If I commit violence and claim that a friend told me to do it, I go to jail. If I claim god told me to do it, I go to a lunatic asylum. But if the christian god officially exists and is regarded as a higher authority than man, who does officially state god's decisions?

Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?
