I'm a workin' girl now
After several trips to my stock broker to sustain us during this drought, I was offered a job! Part-time, answering the phone, inputting data, and marketing.
So far, it has gone pretty good. Learning lots about securities and such. Feels weird coming home at 5, but the family seems to be taking it in stride.
Critter has a couple of offers on the table; will be glad when he is gainfully employed again. Light candles, say prayers, etc.
I will drop in when I can.
Hugs, Amy

Ten dollah per hour. Not bad to get started. I get bonuses if my marketing prowess proves successful.
Thanks for the moral support.

Oh Dear
I didn't mean to ask how much you actually made, I was just being punny about the 'working girl' subject :)
I hope your bonuses are LARGE and you can retire next month ;)

Blame it on my fscked up grey matter.
Thanks for the laugh, though.

Most importantly-
Did you get to buy new clothes?
You'll get the balancing act down. And if you cant juggle everything, let a few balls drop and roll under the couch. You'll be too busy and tired to clean under there, anyway!
I'm a compulsive neatnik. Cleaning is my thing. Lately I've been so busy I dont even have time to nurture my neurosis. On some level, that has to be a good thing. Right now, it is driving me crazy.
Enjoy those paychecks!

Clarification...
You always were a working girl. At least that's what every mother and/or "house"wife has told me. And having been a single dad for 5 years, I know what that entails...
Now you are getting paid for your services.
Congrats on the new job.

OK, I give up: Ordinary boring congratulations!
With that set-up, I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to respond... without going a bit farther than Steve, i.e, in all probability a bit too far.
So I won't even try. Suffice it to say, very happy for you; and fingers crossed for mr R.

I add my congrats
I hated, hated, hated, looking for work the last time I did it with any serious economic imperative behind me. I was in my twenties then. The memory has kept me clinging to the current employer-teat (changes of management notwithstanding) since the 1970s. May your bonuses swell; may critter find an oasis too.

Thanks
It's been an interesting week. The boss's wife is from Costa Rica and her parents live in Columbia. Her father passed away and they left last Friday.
They are due to return this coming Monday. Sad thing is, haven't heard one peep from him (not even an email!)
I put out a couple of fires with a few well-placed calls to Home Office but mostly tried to find something to kill the boredom. Addressed about 500 postcards for the first marketing blitz.
In all, the phone rang maybe 10 times (most of them from Critter.)
I guess with a little more time, it will get better. Not many people get paid for babysitting an empty office, so I'm thankful. Sure will be nice to get my first paycheck, though.
Onward through the fog, Amy
