Actually, I don't understand the difference.
The way Peter (and often others) goes on about "consultants", one gets the impression he's talking about *management* consultants. Maybe they only *call* us "consultants", while we actually *are* what you guys call "contractors"?
Anyway, I've never seen anybody *called* "contractor" in the Finnish or Swedish IT labour markets... The way I've seen the word used before -- pretty much everywhere *except* in discussions like this -- I thought a contractor was (traditionally) the guy who built your house for you (and more recently, a mercenary in Iraq).
